Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been enjoying his time away from the limelight after giving back-to-back successful movies in 2023. Having been a part of films that have broken many stereotypes and were way ahead of their time, over the years, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna remains a fan favourite. As conversations around the film have started taking place, veteran Pakistani actor Tauqeer Nasir recently claimed that Khan’s character Dev Saran was copied from his show ‘Parwaaz’.
In a conversation with Zabardast With Wasi Shah, on Monday, Nasir expressed his disappointment over SRK and Karan Johar not giving him and his drama its due credit. He recalled how the actor would often praise his work and send his regards to others. Expressing his disappointment, the senior Pakistani actor stated, “Shah Rukh Khan is a talented actor. Opening up about the Dunki actor allegedly copying his work, he shared how the character Dev Saran is a “direct copy” of his character in the Pakistani show Pawaaz. Quoted by News18, the 66-year-old actor said, “‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ was essentially based on the story of Parwaaz, written by the renowned author Mustansar Hussain Tarar. Shah Rukh Khan should have given due credit for his inspiration.” He went on to take a dig at Karan Johar for not giving credit to Mustansar Hussain Tarar for his inspiration.
Released in 2006, the romantic drama, also starred Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta, Abhishek Bachchan, Kirron Kher, and Amitabh Bachchan in pivotal roles. The film explores marital infidelity and dysfunctional relationships.
On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan returned to the big screen with a bang in 2023 and starred in Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, which turned out to be blockbuster hits at the box office. The actor is yet to announce his next project. If reports are to be believed, he will be collaborating with his daughter Suhana Khan for an upcoming film ‘The King.’ He will also star in YRF’s spy universe with Tiger VS Pathaan and Pathaan 2. Netizens are waiting for him to officially announce his next projects.
